"Target schema for validation"

I'm running asp.net 2 express, and just wondering what the best setting for this would be?

I thought it would either be HTML 4.01 or XHTML 1.0 Transitional to make sure the code is browser compatiable.

Here's the list:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Internet Explorer 6.0
Internet Explorer 3.02 / Netscape Navigator 3.0
Netscape Navigator 4.0
HTML 4.01
XHTML 1.0 Transitional (Netscape 7, Opera 7, Internet Explorer 6)
XHTML 1.0 Frameset
XHTML 1.1

I'll split points to all usefull posts because i'm sure there's not a black and white answer in this question.

Hi,

I would opt for "XHTML 1.0 Strict". otherwise "XHTML 1.0 Transitional"

Just have a glance at the discussions,

There is no "XHTML 1.0 Strict", only Transitional & Frameset.  Might be in the full version but i'm just using express.

I'd go for XHTML 1.0 Transitional, which should be your best option here, since you are running express.

You could opt for HTML 4.01, but I'd say XHTML 1.0 Transitional is the better option here.

By the way, there are in fact 3 different XHTML 1.0 versions and strict IS one of them, however I do not know if it is unavailable in VS.2005 Express since I am running the full version here at work.

Regards,
Max.

I looked in Sam_Jayander's links and there was a screen shot, and it was in those, but it's not in mine.

Well, then I guess we could say it's a safe bet it's unavailable in VS.NET 2005 Express ;)
