Hi i have been using ghost 8.0 for years and it can ghost a 4gig partition to another drive in 3 mins

Now i have to use linux for one reason or another and i have used partimage to image one partititon to another!

This is taking 55 mins, this is far to long i need it to be used for speedy recovery!

Is there any other softwares in linux which i can use command lines to image/restore, alot quicker?

    The reason why partimage takes long is because it does not copy everything it only copys the files. You could try
    using the tar utility e.g.

    tar -cf backup.tar /path/to/backup

    Whats wrong with Ghost?

    If you need just a backup you could use xDamox information above, if you need an image Ghost will be fine if you use the right switches.

    How are you running partimage? If you are starting it from a knoppix CD, then make sure DMA mode is enabled (if your are imaging a IDE disk, that is). Knoppix doesn't enable DMA by default, and problem neither other distros if started in single mode, which would be the mode to use for partimage.
