How to clean a DLT tape drive using Backup Exec 10 for Windows 2003

I am trying to clean the drive, but everytime I insert cleaning tape it just ejects it out after 10 seconds, How can I manually clean. No robotic arms just a single drive.

    That's exactly how you clean a single DLT tape drive. You don't need any software. Just insert the cleaning tape and it will automatically eject it when done. If you have tried this 6x after another, you have cleaned the drive 6x and the tape has 6x cleaning cycles less available, as these tapes don't rewind once they are finished. You can only use them for the number of cleaning cycles they are made for...

    Thank you for your help, another quick question I had that
     how many times can a cleaning tape be used before it can be replaced. And how would I know that the tape is useless now.

    There are small squares on the label of the cartridge where you can put check marks and the date. These you should fill in everytime you use the tape, and then you know when it is finished. If you don't put these marks on the tape it can be rather difficult to know when the tape is finished. If I remember correctly they are either for 25 or 50 cleaning cycles, but it is some time I've used DLT's. It should say on the package, though.
