Upgrade SBS2000 w/o Exchange to Windows Server 2003 Standard
Hello,
I wanted to confirm a process a contractor is getting ready to perform for us. We currently have one server, SBS2000. We outsourced the Exchange function six months ago but are still using it for everything else. We expressed our desire to move off of SBS 2000 and on to Server 2003. We purchased a new Poweredge 2800 w/Server 2003. Ultimately we'd like to have two servers, the new one hosting our applications and the existing one, wiped out and rebuilt w/Server 2003 Standard and working as our file/print server.
The contractor we went with is going to use Swing IT to perform the migration. We like the idea of doing everything offline before the data transfer. However, I read about the process before the holiday and noticed that the instructions kept referring to migrating to SBS2003. I'm assuming that most projects using this method would go to SBS2003. We intend to keep all of the same settings just to move away from SBS 2000. Will this method work if we don't go to SBS2003 but just Server 2003?
