"Save a copy of"

Hi All,

I am using Filemaker Pro 8 which is running off a server.  I was wondering if this is why I am unable to "Save a copy of" when trying to create a copy on my local harddrive.  Is there any way to get around this?

Thanks!

no, making copies of hosted databases is not possible, only stand alone files.
do a backup on the fly on yr fm server and you'll get a perfect copy of it.
let me know of you are not familiar with filemaker server admin to do this. also tell me what kind of server, osX or windows?

Thanks, lesouef.  I'm new to fm and not too familiar with filmaker server admin. We are running it on windows.

ok, in this case a command line is easier.
"c:/programs files/filemaker/filemaker server/tools/fmsadmin" backup.
that will create a backup copy, on the fly, in the c:/programs files/filemaker/filemaker server/data/databases/backups folder (if defaults have not been changed).

I'm still trying to get with my server admin to see if this works.  I'll go ahead and accept and let you know how it goes!

you don't need fm server admin, just the fmsadmin command line tool which is installed with it.
