Offline address book replication

I am having issues with users downloading the correct *.oab files when doing a download of the address book. When i perform a download I receive the correct files which include additions to AD that I have made. Other users are downloading older files that do not include the latest changes. One user I am testing with that is receiving the older files is homed on the same Exchange server I am. We run an Exchange/Outlook (cached mode) 2003 enviroment.

I believe this is a replication issue with the OAB public folders. I have forced replication by performing a 'Send contents' from the server that generates the OAB to the other servers in my enviroment. I am not sure what I should see when looking at the OAB public folder list with regards to replication and status tabs. Some show a replication status of 'Local Modified' while other show 'In Sync'.

I have went through what I think are all of the settings with respect to the Offline Address Lists, RUS, etc. which seem to be ok. Any help on this will be most appreciated.

Have you tried a rebuild of the OAB and then a client side download?

Yes on both. Is there a way to verify the rebuild has successfully completed? There does not appear to be a progress bar or any other notification that anything happened once the window goes away.

the application logs tells you it. just enable the logging to max on the exchange server properties and then do a rebuild

Problems using Powershell and Active Directory?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

I will look at that. I do know that a new oab is being created as I am able to see changes when I perorm a download. What needs to happen after the new file is created to ensure all users get the new file? When the user performs a download does that file come from their home server or the OAB server?

the file comes from the OAB server. every administrative group has a sitefolderserver attribute defined. the server that is mentioned in this attribute is responsible. and the server specified as the oab server generates the OAB (which is once a day by default)

I am seeing the following errors twice in the applciation log when doing a rebuild. The 'AGCDC' reference is our old NT domain that we migrated from.

The parent Legacy Exchange DN container value '/o=company/ou=AGCDC/cn=TEST OU' was not found during generation of the differential update file for offline address list '\Global Address List'.  This will force clients using this offline address list to do a full download of the offline address list.
- Default Offline Address List

OALGen encountered an error while generating the changes.oab file for version 2 and 3 differential downloads of address list '\Global Address List'.  The offline address list has not been updated so clients will not be able to download the current set of changes.  Check other logged events to find the cause of this error.
If the cause of the problem was intentional or cannot be resolved, OALGen can be forced to post a full offline address list by creating the DWORD registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeSA\Parameters\OAL post full if diff fails' and setting it to 1 on this server.  When OALGen next generates the offline address list, clients will perform a full OAB download.  After that time, the registry key should be removed to prevent further full downloads.

You can install and run the below mentioned tool from MS. Once installed run a health check for Exchange.
