Cannot set mail to deliver to Exchange inbox

Setup a user on an Exchange Account via VPN and when I went to setup the mail delivery to their Exchange mail box I received the following error. "The specified default store could not be opened.  Please make sure you can access your default store and try again."

Other users are setup and using the system. I have been able to access in the past. Works great when using OWA.

I setup the same account on my PC and it does not work so it is not PC specific. Tried a new profile, same result. I tried to access another account (stored in a different profile on my PC) that I had accessed before but it does not work, same error.

So, this looks liek a server specific issue but nothing has changed. I setup another account following teh same procedure to anotehr remote domain and that worked. This seems to eliminate any issue with LMHOSTS (this other domain was not in my host file either but it works great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any chance you can test the account's access on the LAN? I'd like to eliminate the VPN portion.  Did I understand you right when you said this account works with OWA?

Also, was this account created any differently compared to an account that works?

OWA does work. It was created the exact same way as the other accounts which do not have problems.

Eliminating the VPN is a more difficult issue as the user is a remote worker in Georgia and the server is in Pennsylvania. I do not get to that site very often but will try from the LAN next time I am there.
Hmm... Typically that error is generated when there is a profile issue...  But you've said that you created a new profile and get the same results...  Accounts created after this, work, so it doesn't appear to be a RUS issue... As a last resort, you can try to delete the account, recreate it, and re-attach it to the mailbox...

I would try to create the profile on the LAN, and see if that works first though...
Lucky, albeit confusing, the issue cleared itself up this weekend. The user tried again and this time, it set the delivery location to be the Exchange mailbox with no issues.

I have no idea what caused it to start working. Thank you all for you rhelp.
