Suggestions for internet speed for MS SQL server synchronizations.

The scenario is we have MS SQL a server resides geographically in different locations in our country some can be accessed by cable broadband and some via satellite broadband services.
My company is going to subscribe both type internet services so that we can perform synchronizations from our HQ.

What would be the recommended download and upload speeds we can subscribe ?

It really depends on the provider.  Many times the provider will offer several Mb's down, and substantially less up - since typical usage is to issue small HTTP Get requests and DNS requests and then the content floods down to the requestor.

If you're going to be doing equal bi-directional traffic, I would recommend standardizing on a "small pipe" - because one sites down will be another sites up.  You're going to be limited by the "ups".

So, therefore - around 1Mb.  Perhaps 512Kb.

ESPECIALLY if it's going to be accessed by satellite - I think most standard Satellite connections are around 512Kb - I'm not very knowledgeable about that, just my gut feeling from casual reading.  However, the LATENCY is very high, comparatively to ground based networks.

Hope this helps.
