check address in outlook

when composing a mail in outlook and i type the word  john in the "to feild" it either gives me a few choices of diffrent johns in the company or i just hit return and it sends to first john in the list.

can you alter this behavior at all?

only check surname for example

exchange 2003 outlook 2003

why? we often get mails sent o the wrong person  same first name  user error i know but anything to make it easier for them?

Your Outlook caches this information by default. IF you already have a wrong email address cached, you can delete that entry.
Simply go to Outlook compose email window - start typing a new email address in the "To" field and when it gives you a list with options, scroll up and down using Arrow keys and press "Del" key from the keyboard to delete the wrong entry in the cache.
Next time, you wont see that entry and your mail will not go to the wrong persons.

Hi, thanks but the address arnt wrong

there just not the ones that we wanted to use

"TO:" john

it will go to the first john in the GAL

id rather it ask to confirm which john to send to if there are several to choose from

john smith is always getting mail ment for john brown

I know its down to user not checking, but if i could stop the auto complete it may help
You can turn off automatic name checking from here :-

On the Tools menu, click Options.
Click E-Mail Options.
Click Advanced E-Mail Options.
Do one or more of the following:
Turn off automatic name checking

Under When sending a message, clear the Automatic name checking check box.
Turn off automatic completion of e-mail names
