send file in LAN network using C#

Hi, I have a question:
I'm programming in C# windows application
How can I send file, folder between clients and server in LAN and check the user's permission. Don't use Socket.
If you have some documents or sources about this, please share with me.
Thank you very much.

you will have to give some more information on this. why not use sockets? all protocols use sockets. maybe you have a specific protocol in mind?

Why not use sockets is because is in a LAN domain. Sending documents to clients may be a matter of moving from one folder in the domain to another. I think you need to clarify tunhien.

move files within shares? that is as easy as doing a simple copy using absolute path. windows will take care of the rest. of course the user will need write access to destination share/folder

There is an article here on file transfers over networks;

Hope this helps,

ciuly, i think even the worst of programmers know this. it was a comment that we should not make assumptions because his solution may be just that trivial so it wouldnt make sense to question why he is not using sockets.

there is probably a missunderstanding between us :D you were saying something about domains, but share's exist in workgroups as well (just to be specific) or some other cases (dunno if linux boxes can be made part of a windows domain/workgroup, but they definietly can have shares). so that is why I emphasized the share thing. maybe the question was not the right way to do it :) even if my post came as a result of your's, I meant it to be for the asker, as I believe it was a little different then your idea.
no offense intended :)
