I have an SQL SERVER 2000 installed in a server.
I want to make a backup of my database.
Whenever I do this operation on any database even the pubs DB I get the following message:

Microsoft SQL-DMO(ODBC SQLState 42000)
Error 0: Cannot load the DLL xpstar dll, or one of the DLLs it references. Reason: 126(error not found).

but after I give the O.K. I get the message again but I manage to do the BACKup OK.
What does this message mean? Is it dangerous?

Check your systems event viewer for errors.  Also you can access the errorlog file directly using any text editor.  This may show some information

xpstar.dll  should be installed in the d:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn folder. Chek if it is there.
