XP Client did not register their name in Active Directory DNS...

Hi,

Would guy give me a hand?

1. We current have a single Active Directory Domain with intergrated DNS...
2. It is weird that all w2k client workstation was successful register their BIOS name in DNS
3. Xp client workstation did not successfully register their name in DNS
4. All Xp client name was successfully register in the Reverse Look Up zone
5. All XP client can ping by BIOS name to each other and can log on to domain getting resources

The question is.
Why it's not registering XP client bios name in the DNS forward lookup zone --> server node?
How to make all XP workstation exist in DNS?

Thank You!

Make sure the option to Register in DNS is checked on that workstation's NIC.  Make sure those workstations only have your DNS IP on them only.

ASKER

yes,

Register in DNS was checked
and yes, all work station have appropreate WINS and DNS ip dynamicly through DHCP
FYI, its called netbios name, not bios name.  Actually since you are pinging them by their DNS hostname, it is their DNS name, not even their netbois name.
Thank you mikeleebrla
On one of the workstations that isn't registering, check the DNS suffix in the Properties of My Computer>Network Identification.  That suffix must match the Forward Lookup Zone on your DNS server.  If it doesn't then let us know.

If it does, then on the Properties of the Forward Zone itself make sure that it is set to Secure Dynamic Updates.

It still not registering in DNS
Is the DHCP Client service started on the workstation?

YES,

We are running a single label domain, without the .com
