Inspiron 600m will not power on, Power cord led shuts off

I am working on our laptop it is a dell inspiron 600m, the laptop will not power on. We bought a new power supply, because we thought that was at fault but the new one is doing the same thing. No response at all when the power button is pushed and when you plug the power cord to the laptop the LED on the power supply cuts out. Then you have to unplug it and plug it back in again to make the lgiht come on, when the LED goes out there is no power at all on the power plug.

The battery indicator shows up at 3/4 charge and even when the cable is unplugged the laptop will still not power on.

I am stumped and appreciate the help.

your laptop needs to be repaired... send it back to DELL

motherboard is bad... if it is out of warranty, then search for a replacement unit or motherboard on Ebay.

the power function is on the motherboard...if that went, it all goes. (sorry for the breakup on messages)

Yeah I was afraid of that, the motherboard probably cost mroe than the unit is worth.

you might luck out on Ebay....I had client that had the same problem (but for a MAC)...they were told $1000 for the motherboard, and got one for less than $200...it's worth a shot,

or a shot in the dumpster.. :-(

Thank you for the grade
