What's the trick to installing Adobe Distiller under Windows x64

I have Adobe Distiller (Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional Installer) which worked just fine under XP.
Upgraded my PC to x64 and Distiller won't re-install.

Have found allusions to the fact that it can be done on the Internet but would someone be kind enough to explain the process in BIG LETTERs.

Many thanks,

The 64bit version of Windows is not a supported platform for Acrobat 6. Even with Acrobat 7, you will run into problems. Here is a link to an Adobe page that lists problems with Acrobat 7 and Windows x64:

As you can see, the problem with the Adobe Distiller is still listed, and they also give an explanation for why it's not working (64bit printer drivers). As far as I know, there is nothing you can do to make it work besides using the workaround of creating PostScript files (as indicated in the article) and distilling them manually.

I gather from an Adobe watcher that the 64 bit version required a major rewrite, which is what is going on at the moment.
Having spent a small fortune on Distiller I cut my losses and bought a copy of PDF Factory.....
