I have a friend who claims to shut down his computer (Start | Turn off Computer | Turn Off) and it comes back on anywhere from 30 minutes to 5 hours later.<br />

This is a Windows XP machine.<br />
<br />
When he turns off the machine, he turns it off... no hibernation, no standby.<br />
<br />
The modem (it does have a phone connected to it) is not enabled to bring the computer out of standby.<br />
<br />
Any thoughts? &nbsp;Ever heard of such nonsense?
