Computer turns on when ever I use my home phone.

I have a T1600 Emachine that turns on when ever I use my home phone.
Using XP Home edition.

I booted into BIOS and I found no Wake on Modem feature.

Checked the power management tab and the " allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" was already unselected.

Went through and disabled the standy by and hybernation features.

go into modem properties under control panel, and locate any related WAKEUP functions
Greetings, eb98brown !

Do you use a modem or broadband?  Do you have a modem in your computer?

This sounds like Wake on Ring or Wake on LAN technology.  If you do not see any setting in your modem control panel, check the connection control panel.

Go to Start > Run > Settings > Dial-up Networking. Right click on the dialup icon and select Properties. Check under various tabs for Wake on Ring option and turn it off.

Best wishes!

Sorry war1 for not returning a reply promptly.  I have not had a chance to try your suggestion.  The computer belongs to my father-inlaw.  Will have a chance this weekend to try this fix. Thanks for the input, will let you know the outcome.

Does the computer still turn on when your home phone rings after trying the suggestions above?
This is just a wake up call.

Thanks Keith and CeutsMOD!
