Outlook/Exchange not remembering password

All of the sudden, many of our clients are now "forgetting" their Outlook password.   We set-up all of our users so that they don't need to remember their passwords, but something somewhere is making all of the clients forget.   I can't imagine it's an Outlook client thing since it would mean > 50 clients all had the same issue at the same time.   I suspect it's an AD or Exchange thing, but nothing was changed with either.    Any ideas?

Remembering the password is left up to the Outlook profile.
Does creating a new Outlook profile fix the problem?

Exchange does not "remember" any passwords. The AD does this. Exchange just forwards the authentication requests to a DC.

If we have the users re-enter their password and check "Save password" again it usually takes, but a little later in time it can "forget" again".

Creating a new profile gets them back in fine, I haven't had any reoccur, but there hasn't been enough time to declare this the fix.

What in AD can cause this to happen?   Why would AD all of the sudden forget all the passwords?   Is it possible that one of my domain controllers is doing this?   How would I check?   The controllers report fine when netdiag and dcdiag is run.

I don't think that this is related to AD either. The act of "remembering" the password is not stored in AD anywhere.

As I said earlier it is part of the Outlook profile.

You said that creating a new profile seems to work even though we cannot be sure until some time passes. If this does in fact resolve the issue then you know it is some corruption in the Outlook profile. What that would be I cannot tell you. Or how it happened.
