the "official" apache documentation

this should give you everything, from basic to in-depth.

Hi philjones85

I did see this but could not find where the info on confiuring the default site info IE root file director and port number.
all apache configurations are done through configuration files.  the majority of the configurations are done in "httpd.conf"  search for that file, open it in any text editor, scan through it (its pretty well documented) and make any changes you want.  restart the apache server and you're all set.

you may want to make a copy of httpd.conf to revert back to the original settings if you mess something up.

the online documentation will give you more detailed info if there's anything that isn't explained well enough inside the configuration file itself.
