"This symbol is imported from a shared library. If you edit this symbol, it will no longer be imported. Do you want to continue?"

System information:

Windows XP O/S.

Software information:

Flash Professional, version 8.0

Where a copy of the file is located:

http://www.marcoullis.com/UPLOADS/header.fla

What the problem is:

When I open the file, and I double click on the text folder in the library, a movie clip named "Text 138" cannot be edited because I get this warning message. Basically what happens is if I click "no" then the editing feature does not open. If I click "yes" then for a while it allows me to make changes to the movie clip, but then Macromedia Flash crashes, and I can never open that .fla file again, until I re-download the file from scratch.

Here is the interesting part. Although the header.fla file crashes Macromedia Flash after the initial load-up, if I try to open Macromedia Flash on its own, there is no problem.

Please help.

Hi,

I have downloaded your File and try to update the text, it shows the warning as you said, I click "ok", and easily update the text.

here I have uploaded the updated text FLA
download link:

it seems problem with ur Flash 8 installation not the file..
I hope it should not through this error now for you.

if still face same issue, I would recommand uninstall your Flash 8 and reinstall it.

OK I guess my question is not answered yet. What I am looking for is how do I unshare an object from the Shared library without just deleting it?

To unshare an object you only need to click "yes" on confirmation box..

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Yes but when I do that the program crashes like 3 minutes later... I have tried this on two different installations, on two different boxes. The problem is not Flash 8.0 installation related...

Unless I am missing something.

Perhaps you can explain to me in simple english what this message means then:

"This symbol is imported from a shared library. If you edit this symbol, it will no longer be imported. Do you want to continue?"
