Hi

After running dcpromo to demote the server from DC to a member server, I noticed that the status of all the scheduled tasks is "could not start"

Trying to open any task, I receive:

General page initialization failed.
The specific error is:
0x8007000d: The data is invalid.
An error has occurred attempting to retrieve task account information. You may continue editing the task object, but will be unable to change task account information.

Any suggestions how can I fix it?

Thanks.

Hi AbelB,

could this be related to the fact that the tasks ran under domain accounts before, try changing to a local account

How can I change them?

When I open the properties the "log as" tab is missing (thats what the error message says)

Anyway I tried re-creating the shadow copies tasks, and I get the same message on the new tasks.

Thanks

It didn't help :(

My problem is the opposite, it was domain account and now I need it to be a local account (I guess)

Just to make sure, please note that the shadow copies was just an example, I get the same error on other tasks as well...

are you able to create new tasks at all?

Yes.

I've created a new task with the same domain user account that the other tasks were using.

And now I can run those tasks. Which means it was something with the passwords (I couldn't change the password because of that error, but creating a new task did the job).

I did it for all the domain accounts I was using and it worked fine, but now I am stucked with the scheduled tasks that are running with the local system account, such as shadow copies.

I tried creating a new task with the local system account, but I need to write a password for it... any ideas how can I reset it's password?

i am taking a shot here as i have no idea how to set that account password - but is it not the DSRM password you enter during the Demotion of a DC

Hello i found a solution to the problem of not being able to run existing tasks due to change of server status/account status.   Since the account with which the task was originally created no longer exists (in my case i removed the server from a domain thus lost the domain account) you need to take ownership of the task.

1. log in as the local admin account or domain admin
2. select the task (got the data is invalid warning)
3. in security tab --> force the admin account as owner (even though admin group is effective owner)
4. select apply/OK close out of task
5. reopen the task (no error this time)
6. set the new Run as account

Hope this helps
