POP mail from exchange, from another exchange setup

Hi

I am setting up mail for two offices.  Both have exchange 2003.   They want the same email address domain to be used in both locations.  what i am wondering is it possible setup one of the exchange servers to handle all the mails in one location and have the second office (different location) pop the mails using oulook or something?

Or is there a better way of sharing the domain emails between two offices?.

I will also be setting up a VPN between both locations.

Hope a good setup can be achieved.

Thanks
Stephen.

If the exchange servers end up being in the same AD forest then i guess you dont need anything special to have email working in between them.

If you plan to have 2 different AD forest and 2 exchange servers, please refer to;

Hi,

I have both networks named as the same domain, one is SBS, the other is 2003 standered.

If connect as a VPN between both premises, what would you recommend in being the best setup, is there any good info in how to do so either?

Thanks

I am confident that if you follow the steps from the above article things should work as expected.

Hi Raghu,

  Sorry for dragging this out,
I am a small bit confused.  Would I be correct in saying I need to create a second email domain as such in receipients to point to other exchange server.  I.e @server2.mydomain.ie.  Will I need to set this up with my ISP i.e. dns etc.  Would I be correct in thinking that server1 will send mails to new recepient domain if no match found.

Will this also mean that on server 2 all emails will be sent with the email address e.g info@server2.mydomain.ie, or will I be able to alter this so that it appears as info@mydomain.ie.

Hope im making sense.
Regards
Stephen

HI folks,
I converted office 1 to exchange and setup the VPN, I then connect office 2 to exchange over the VPN without any hassel, didnt need to do and dns managment or zones etc.  It worked as if they were on same network
Thanks very much
