FrontPage defaults to only one of my webs domains, and I need it to be a different one.

Okay, first to make matters worse, the site I need to make my "default" site - I cannot add it to FTP sites, it doesn't like it.  I can easily access through Cute-FTP.  However, I'm used to going to clients server (host/domain/whatever), pulling down the monthly update by hitting EDIT WITH FRONTPAGE, okay.  Then when I save it wants to save it to another hostwebdomain thing (my personal business host, custom-enterprises).  It asks for password, etc., and usually if that's where I pulled from - I'm saving it BACK TO.

Since I have this extra problem with this domain, cannot add it to My network places, except as an FTP, that's fine - but I want the functionality inside Frontpage to select my webhost thing or at least to save back to where it came from.  It defaults always (only if web pulled as I call EDITING a page pulled from web)...it defaults then to my custom-enterprises - with no option to change other than going to My Network Places, and then it doesn't accept the ftp://ftp.etc.com, it wants http://www.etc.com, and when I type that in for this site - it says the folder isn't available.  (now this is while in FrontPage)

Again, I can easily go to My Network Places and I added not http:// BUT ftp://.ftp.thisproblemsite.com - and it shows all the folders there.  Also same with CuteFTP, I can right mouse click and send it up from my desktop - which is a pain.

From Frontpage......I like when I pull down (EDIT my webpage) from custom-enterprises (mine), and hit save, and there are no questions.  If I pull down from Mr.problem.site, I get the password thing box, but it's SET to Custom-Enteprises - no option for change (I know I repeat myself here).

Since I've tried everything, and searched the web, I can't get any information about this, and think maybe this cannot be done with this problem site, because the only way to switch your default home-domain as it were - is to say FTP sites when it asks me where it wants it saved on anything other than my custom-enterprises personal site it has elected as the ONLY official default - I did not set this.  How can I select what is default and establish the parameters within the FrontPage program to my choice.?

HELP and THANK YOU.

Are both sites a FP web locally?

I'm not sure what that means.  Both sites are FP/Windows/Extension Host domains that have plenty of my work on them, I just can't select in Front Page to save to the one domainhost, but I can to the other.  FP defaults to one site, and does not allow me to change the default.

I think the answer is yes to your question.  They are both front page, and found on both local and domainserver.  One I have to use a program to upload changes, the other I just click save in FP and it saves back to the domain.  I'd like to have the option to save to the other domain, but front page things all I do is the one domain (default).  That's my real issue.

Thanks for responding.

It sounds like this one is not a FP web.

If you open your explorer and dril down to where this folder is - is is a folder or does it have a globe on it?

It's an FTP folder not a (globe) url.  Frontpage won't work with FTP folders, only with, as you call them, the "globe" ones.  Actually, I think there is a problem with this site, since NetworkPlaces CANNOT add the url, only the ftp (folder).  The latter of which doesn't even appear in the FrontPage save FTP - only as I said, the urls.  I've asked for the host of this site so I can call them and ask their techies why this site doesn't work like everyone else - it can't be added as a networkplace url style.

Windows says the url is invalid, and yet it isn't.  The host must have something hidden & structured differently, you know?

Can you default FrontPage to save to a particular url?  How did it select ONE and will automatically save there.  Shouldn't I be able to set the default is the entire question.  All the rest must have something to do with that site being "different", but where in FrontPage do you set webdefault server/url?

Thanks again!  Hey <----------I see your picture!  cool, it's just to the left of my typing and I noticed the name!

To manage a website - FP creates a FP web (adds the globe) to it.  This is probably why you cannot open the website up in FP - it needs to be a FP web for FP to open that website

Thanks Corey, that was information that led to resolve. It was LINUX server, .  And FP doesn't default like I thought, it's different everytime.  The Server I was trying to access was LINUX with FP extensions turned off - I should have known from the clues; however, I contacted the host, and they turned Microsoft stuff ON - and now it's a web address that Front Page can work with.  et al , problem solved.  Thanks for your time.  Deborah
