Wireless Help

Hi Guys,

I have a dodgey wireless connection where i am.  I get full signal in the missle of a room, but no signal in the corners of the room.

Does any one know of a piece of software that will help me to find where the strongest wireless signal in a room is, and also help me to find where the wireless access point is.

I ask because i keep picking up random wireless signals and want to find their physical source.
Thanks

Are you using the Microsoft Wireless client?  You might want to try a better client and turn off Microsofts Wireless Zero Configuration.

If you are using a different client make sure the wirless zero configuration utility is disables

\start\run\services.msc

Scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration, if it is not disabled, disable it and reboot the device and see if you stop seeing your neighbors devices.
Use a Pocket PC or walk around with your laptop and view the signal meter for the card.  I likey the Belkin 802.11 Pre-N Router...cause I can go to the grocery store and it still reaches (well almost).

Select your home connection as a higher priority then your neighbors.
what router is it that you're using?
the wi-fi locators will help you pick up your signal & determine strength & setting your connection to be first will help as well as disabling any others
