Tomcat startup problem

Hi,

We are trying to install tomcat and configure it. We have followed the procedures and when we click the startup.bat, the dos window just comes up for a second and goes off. Also, we cannot get to the http://localhost

Any help is appreciated.

thanks,

Try run startup.bat on command prompt instead of directly clicking the startup.bat, this will print out the error.

Note: Make sure you have installed JDK and set the JAVA_HOME enviroment variable.

Make sure there isn't another web server running on the machine ... a port conflict will cause it to abort like that also.
Most likely problem is the JAVA_HOME though, everything else should be pretty dynamic and just work.

thanks for the tip. We ran the startup.bat from the command prompt and found that the tomcat version and the jdk version we installed were incompatible. We installed the right versions and it is running fine now.
