Migrate within the same server

I am trying to take all messages from one message store and move them to a different message store on the same server but on different hard disk drives.

I want to maintain all security / access rights info but i need to rebuild the mailboxes in a new database because the old one is corrupt.

If you are moving everything from one store to another, then everything should be fine. Nothing will be lost. I don't know where Dominic is getting the loss of delegate rights from, as I move mailboxes around all the time and it has always been transparent to the user.

Just make sure that the users are out of Outlook when you do the move, otherwise you will get all sorts of errors.

Simon.

When you say rebuiild the mailboxes what excatly you will do.

Your first line I think means you are going to move mailbox from one mailbox store to another. This will not hamper the security  and access rights. But this will cause the delegate rights to go away.

Select all the mailboxes from one store and right click ..click on exchange tasks...Next...Move Mailbox...Next...Select new mailbox Store....click next finish.

It will take max. half an hour to replicate and no one will be able to open it till that time.

Thanks
