Hi All,

I just changed the Administrator login name for our 3 servers, when the backup finished, I always see the below error...backup I think is successful...I will try to recover my database....why I always get the below message when the backup finished. I did re-enter the password for each server and network access no problem.

Please advise.

Unable to login as user. (USER=Administrator, EC=Logon failure: unknow user name
or bad password.)

    Hi All,

One more thing I want to add in is just now I did try to restore database from Tape, but unable to restore.... the error message as above:-

Unable to login as user. (USER=Administrator, EC=Logon failure: unknow user name or bad password.)

Please advise what should I do if I change the server administrator password.

What version of ARCServe are you using?  Version 11.1 and later had specific fixes for this error.  The first thing to do is upgrade to 11.1 if you can.

    Support link including downloads:

But the fix for this would be a problem with the ARCserve System Account. The account is reset via the ARCserve Server Admin.  Usually upgrading fixes this though.

    Good Luck,

    Assisted Solution

    Logon using the following syntax:

Also check the arcserve services, they should either be using the system account in their startup credentials, or then you also need to adjust the logins there.
