Directory Information Pages (DIP)

hi experts, looking for some knowledgeable information on "DIP" pages
all the research i have found states that "dip" pages submit the website to the search engines twice a month, and is submitted as a new web site submission, thus giving the customer higher page ranking and better search indexing??

is this true?? i was under the impression that it takes alot longer than 2 weeks for search engines just to index your site !so how can this work???

is this a scam??
thanks

I found an article: http://www.clickz.com/experts/search/results/article.php/3325301 that seems to confirm it.  If your SEO is using that term, it sounds like you should locate yourself another company.  It seems that DIP is a black hat SEO term.

yes i think they look at "dip" pages like doorway pages ,

but what kind of time period is involved for a search engine to index your site?

when they advertise they will submit your site to a search engine twice a month and this will look like a new submisssion to the search engine , that you get a higher ranking?????

they also talk about "hand submission" to search engines , any expert know what that means????

SE (most of them) will know that when you submit http://www.example.com/ twice a month, will know that http://www.example.com/ is already submitted

They might say you are spamming them.  Look at it this way - you are at home.  A call comes in asking if you have tried the new spaghetti sauce.  You say no, not yet.  Then they call the next night, and the next night, and the next night.  A bit irritating, right?

Hand submissions usually means they go to the SE website and click on the link to submit an URL.

As far as time period - usually about one week to six months
