Hello ,
I see that IBM has a lot of certifications (app developer etc ..) .I was wondering if there is a certification for a Portal developer.

We at out office are thinking to switch to a IBM portal (we have exsisting web app. running on Tomcat). We were wondering if there is any certification/traing for IBM which does that.

Thanks

Yes, IBM does have various training modules for Portal development, Installation and configuration etc.

Please see the link below for "IBM WebSphere Portal V5.1 Application Development Using JSR 168". You can also see other courses and certifications at this web site.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need additional information.
