It depends on the barcode reader - many are of the type known as keyboard wedges - they connect between the PC and the keyboard, and when the barcode is read, they translate it to a series of keypresses.  In this case you need nothing on your web input field - it need only accept text

Thx for your response.
The requirement is the webpage input field must be auto populated by the barcode number when the barcode label is scanned by reader which is attached to the computer or keyboard.
Does it mean that the barcode comes with a software that can perform this?
Don't we need any tool to be developed (using barcode reader api) to capture the scanned code into the webpage input field?
Thx.

If it is a keyboard wedge you need no code at all on the webpage - the reader converts the barcode to a string of characters sent through the keyboard interface, as if somebody had typed them.  Other types of barcode reader may need software on the machine to which it is attached.

Thx for the response.

If its the keyboard wedge then I hope the cursor should be focused on the webpage input field before scanning with barcode reader.

Can we able to map to tell that capture the data into specific one of the input field amoung several irregardless of the current cursor position? Thx.
