I am trying to make a formula in sharepoint that consists of the following.  One of the columns used in the formula is a yes or no check box.  Another is a date.  If the first box is checked yes then the formula should consist of the date box plus 4 days.   How can I wirte this formula?

SharePoint formulas are very similar to Excel spreadsheet formulas.

Suppose you have two other columns called isTrue and someDate

[isTrue] = true/false
[someDate] = date field

IF([isTrue] = "true", [someDate]+4, [someDate])

... I am also fairly certain that the [isTrue] = "true" is case sensitive.  So 'True' is different than 'true'.

FYI...

You'll get better/quicker responses if you post your SharePoint questions here:

I'm not sure how the mods came up with the navigation, but there is indeed a SharePoint TA.

here is a better example of what i am trying to do....

one column is named recision and it is a checkbox......

then other column is named begin and it gives a date....

the column i am trying to make is a recision date, it is only to be available if the recision column is checked off.  When it is checked off then this column should constist of a formula that sais [begin]+4.....

I need to know how to attatch the recision and recision date so when the check box is checked then the recision date pops up.

If I understand you correctly, you can't do that.

SharePoint does not support conditional column visibility.  All columns are visible all the time.

You can have the following:

A column called Recision (yes/no)
A column called Begin (date)
A column called Recision Date (formula - type date returned)

ALL VISIBLE

recision date formula:   =IF(recision=TRUE,begin+4,"-N/A-")
