Does anyone know of a DMI configuration utility that will run on RH Linux Vx.xx and also can be used when the OS is running.

I need to update the DMI in systems that in the field and run 24x7.  Down time is a problem, so if we can fine a work around it would be a lot better.

Thanks

Woops, apologies, it is http://www.dmtf.org/standards/dmi Desktop Management Interface.

dmidecode utilities for Linux come from http://www.nongnu.org/dmidecode/ for reference.

Thanks

http://powertweak.sourceforge.net/

allows you to manipulate these settings, but does not report them remotely.

SNMPD is probably a better bet for that type of thing.

Alternatively, if you want a *very* powerful and free package, I can recommend nagios:

www.nagios.org

for remotely monitoring them. It's got loads of modules for monitoring different functionalities cwntrally.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Will any of these allow me to change setting and data held in the DMI storage area of the MB?

I downloaded powertweak, but need to get a xwindows system running to see it properly. Ran the windows version, but it did not look I can change things like the serial number, manufacturers details for example.   I am looking for asset tagging & information storing about serial numbers etc on the MB for pull these off remotely. I have a DOS DMICFG program to program these setting during production, but once they are in the field, I have no way of changing/setting them.

Thanks
