Hello All

I have a problem with my outlook and I also observed it in my outlook express, when someone sends an email to me from outlook express I recived the email address normally  with no problems, also when it is sent from a web client such as yahoo in html format I recieve it normally too.

However It converts text only emails to attachments and I dont know if it is related to an error message I have been reciving in my internet explorer "invalid syntax error" when I try to browse. Other browsers work perfectly well. But internet explorer doesnt.

Please I need immediate help

Thank you

Greetings, cobuba !
>>However It converts text only emails to attachments

I assume you mean when you receive the emails in Outlook, it converts to attachment.  This occurs of Rich Text is used.  Go to Tools > Options > Mail Format, and select HTML or Plain Text format.

Best wishes!

Hi war1

I checked that setting and discovered it had to do with the outgoing email not the incoming so that didnt solve my problem thanks for the advice anyway

Thanks

Did you change the format to Plain Text?  Rich Text has been known to cause an extra attachment, where sending or receiving.

Hello

Sorry for not updating you earlier I fell sick for a few days

No change occured after I changed it to plain text

Here are the full symptoms I observed:

1. Mails recieved from outlook express from some people can be read
2. Mail from openwebmail cant be read
3. Mail from yahoo can be read
4. SPAM Mails with images (the whole mail sent as an image) can be read
5. I can check ALL emails from openwebmail

Thanks

>> 2. Mail from openwebmail can't be read

Cannot be read in Outlook Express?  Earlier you wrote you can read all emails with OE.  Change the encoding and then try to read the openwebmail emails.   In IE, go to View > Encoding. Change to UTF-8 or unicode.

cobuba,

Outlook Express is closely tied to Internet Explorer.  Seems like a file is corrupted in IE.

1. Disable third party extensions. With IE open, go to Tools > Options > Advanced. Uncheck "Third party extensions". Click Ok. Reboot computer.

2. Clear your cache.  Go to Tools > Internet Optins > General tab.  Under Temporary Internet Files, click "Delete Files" button. Click OK.

3. Reset IE settings.  Go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs.  Click on "Reset Web Settings" button. Go to Advanced tab and click "Restore Defaults" button. Go to Security tab and move the bar to Medium or Default. Click OK. Close all browsers. Reboot the computer.

4. Check if a program running in the background is interfering with Internet Explorer. Temporarily disable antivirus, firewall, antispyware, ad-blocker, popup blocker, and all Norton programs.

5. Repair or reinstall Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP
