Hi,

i have recently downloaded Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 from the Microsoft's website. Now first i tried to install on my home PC, it had windows 2000 SP4, bu the installtion gives the error:

Extracting file failed: It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swaping file) or corrupted Cabinet file.

Now i then trried to install it on another system running Windows XP SP2 but it gives the same error.

I don't have any previous versions of .NET Framework installed on the system with Windows 2000 bu i have .NET Framework on Windows XP SP2 system. Either way i am getting the error. I tried extracting files and then install but it the same error.

Please tell me how can i install it.

It appears that the download itself is corrupt.  Re-downloading the file should correct the problem.

I re-downloaded the dotnetfx.exe file but this time i chose Run rather than Save As option and presto! the installation started. I have seen many people with the same error as mine and i believe that dotnetfx.exe gets corrupted usually (more often than not) when someone downloads it to local system. Rather running it remotely should be used.
