Deleting & Reassigning TS CALS on TS W2K Server

Hello,

I have a remote user who is getting a message that her CAL is about to expire. When I checked the server she was issued a 90 day TS CAL. She's using XP, my question is in two parts. First, it appears there are some old computers no longer in service that were issued full TS CALS. Is it safe to go and delete them? Second, if I do delete them would I then delete the Temp CAL that was issued to the user and would the server then assign the full CAL to that user?

Thanks!

in windows 2000 the win xp pro and win2k pro clients get built in CALS.
the duration of a permanent CAL is 52-89 days (randomly expire)
temp cals : 90 days (120 in 2k3)
2k issues only device CALS, and in the client registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing
if this key is deleted then the next time the client connects to the TS it would request a new cal and if permanent cal is available it would be issued.

how to reset the License server database :
stop term serv licensing, rename LServer and restrat the service, but you need to reinstall the CALS.

If the ts discovers the TSLS (licensing server ) then you need not worry as long there are permanent CALS available it should renew it automatically.

use LSview ( res kit) to determine discovery.
