URL Page In Browser

When I open a Browser and type in my URL

https://Comtra1.Company.com/ecr/ecr036.nsf

I get a white page at the top is the database Icon and title, then in bold there is the word Views, then it will list views.  If you select a view it then takes you to the Overall navigator.

My question is where does the white page come from?  How can I go straight to the navigator?

In the Database Properties, set the correct start options for web users, on the rocket-tab.

what is funny about that Bosman, when I set it to launch in the navigator, it will not let me login.  Gives me no access errors.

If I leave it set to Use Notes Launch Option, it logs me in fine.  If I use Navigator in its own page, will not let me kog in says my access is not right.  I am manager of the database.

Did you set special permissions on the navigator? If the navigator has a name, you should be able to load it using

Why a navigator? Did you put everything in a frameset? Then you should load the frameset.

This is an early (not know what I am doing database)  I did not use framesets.  I have tried addressing it by name.  I can not find any kind of permissions on the navigator.  I may just create a quick frameset and see if that works

A frameset is much better, when you need a navigator at the left and data (view/document) at the right. Instead of a Navigator (it's a bit old-fashioned), use an Outline.

Let me ask this.  My databases are created basically for the client user, but vendors use them on the web.  When you view the database in a broswer they don't look very good.  What is the best way to design the database?

That's the million dollar question: What is the best way to design the database. And there's no simple answer to it. It all depends on what the users want and what they need. If you keep the database simple (and effective), you can re-use many elements you already have for the Notes users. If you want, you can copy all existing elements, block the current one so they can only be used from a Notes client, and enable the copies for web-use only. As you can see, your maintenance effort can be doubled (or worse) if you don't go about it in a sensible way. It is usually best to re-use as many forms and views as you can, and add some hide-whens for Notes or browser clients in the forms.

The easiest way is when you know in advance the database will be used both by Notes and web users. The longer you wait, the more difficult it gets: there are no web-events (except WebQuerySave and WebQueryOpen agents), you can use JavaScript extensively, the LotusScript buttons and actions on the form have to be rewritten, etc. etc.
