Exchange suddenly dropping tons of duplicate emails from December-May on all my users?

So, out of no where, I start receiving emails from back in December... Then my helpdesk mailbox floods with tons of our users reporting the same problem
Getting tons of emails dating back to December. These are emails they have already received and for some reason it's sending them again today.
Any way to find out why this is happening and how to put a stop to it?

That sounds like it is replaying its logs.
You will have to look at the event viewer on the Exchange server to see why.

Do you have transaction logs going back to December? If you do, then you need to look at your backup solution as it isn't working properly.

Thanks.

I opened one of the headers and realised it was coming from our alias/filter server which is out in the ether.
Apparently the controller who works on the filters removed the filter accidently and 100,000+ emails dumped down into our exchange server, which handled the emails as it should have.
