Veritas 10 tape errors

I receive job alerts in Veritas that direct me to the job logs for more details.  Where or how can I find the job logs?

What version of Backup exec?  You can usually view the job details under the Job Monitor tab.  Find the failed or success backup and double click on it revealing the Job Details ( Job History, Job Log )

Version 10d, I can view the job details but its the errors that I need to view.

Basically I run a backup, it stalls about half way and reports a tape error and then prompts insert overwriteable media, when I click cancel and go to the job details in job monitor the only errors are user cancelled a physical mount, but yet when I go to alerts I can see the tape alert that directs me to the job log

Als how much data are you backing up and what types of tapes are you using?  Are you sure you just not running out of space on your tapes.

I have narrowed the problem down to exchange when I select the exchange store as part of the backup the backup throws up an error half way through and then has insert media on job monitor however if I change the backup to exchange mailbox backup only, then the job runs fine.  There is plenty of room on the tape to fully backup exchange store.

I have taken to getting the customer to format the tapes each night before the backup runs. everything runs fine this way

Further update it would appear when the data is too big for the tape an error is reported during the backup process, I don't know if this occurs during the byte count or during the backup / verify
