Can't see HTML messages and yahoo messenger chat in Xp Pro?

I am using Windows Professional SP2

Problem Symptoms:

* Can't use HTML emails in email client (Foxmail), it launches a Firefox dialog with Open and Save options (Had to use Open to see email in Firefox from foxmail temp location).

* Unable to see chat in Yahoo messenger(the top pane where conversation is shown)

* Unable to launch Internet Explorer options dialog

What I had already tried:

1). Reinstalled Windows Scripting Host 5.6 (BTW I am quite sure problem is related to Scripting as  programs are unable to script Internet explorer).

2). Reinstalled both Yahoo Messenger & Foxmail.

3). Disabled Anti-virus.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/systemrestore.mspx     Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur

Important note: Run the restore from SAFE MODE or else it often doesn't work.

Run a spyware/adware check - can't hurt: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Free antivirus at www.grisoft.com, or use your existing antivirus with virus defs updated.
May help also to disable unneeded tasks from starting up automatically:

It is fairly easy to do a repair install, only 10 mins usually.  Insert the XP boot CD, and boot from it, and go through as if you are going to do a fresh install, BUT ... when it gets to the screen where it detects the existing installation of XP on the C drive, that is wher you PRESS "R" to repair the existing install. In about 10 mins you are done, then really service pack 2, and if you are behind a router firewall, turn off automatic updates in my computer, properties, automatic updates tab.

I now recall a similar problem. Re-installing the Video drivers fixed it!

So look up the name of your video card in Control Panel -> (Classic view ) -> Display -> Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter

Then ask google or go to company website for the video drivers.

ded9Commented:
Yep sure
got to www.bootdisk.com download windows xp bootdisk
create six bootable floppies
boot will the help of those floppies and when u get the setup screen with r option insert the bootable xp cd

Another solution is to create your own windows xp bootable cd with the help of i386 folder

I had already tried:
1). Cleaning computer using Tuneup Utiltities 2006
2). Chekcing for adware/spyware and viruses.

I would be trying the Boot Floopy option now but will be happy a XP non-repair solution is provided (I am afraid of loosing my data if it goes bad, as I cant take backup of my data)

Then first backup data to different drive and  do the repair process

okay one more way is to go to control panel -add remove windows components uncheck internet explorer reboot pc
Then again got to control panel -add remove windows components -check internet explorer -- it will ask for windows xp sp2 provide it  and reboot the computer.
In this way you will repair your internet explorer

No still stuck with same, now using Miranda IM as a substitute, I can't afford a repair as if anything goes wrong it will be a disaster, even tried reinstalling IE from the full 70 MB setup.

Try installing yahoo messenger to a different location, not  the default
