Preference/Enable text selection for the Hand Tool selected grayed out

Running Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.0 and the Edit/Preferences/General/Enable text selection for the Hand Tool is selected grayed out. The consequence of this is that text images entered into online pdf forms have an obstructed view. only the top 1/4 of the type is visible when keyed into a form field. Has anyone run into this problem? Does anyone know how to deselect the Preference setting with it being grayed out?

I am running 7.0.7, and the hand tool setting is available. Did you install Reader, or was it installed by your IT department? In the latter case, it's possible that they "tweaked" your installation.

I finally got my network profile reset and that allowed the setting to be deselected. Didn't matter. The problem with using online forms persisted. I don't know if an upgrade will definitely solve this.
I don't know either if an upgrade will solve this problem, but in general, you are wasting time to debug a problem in an out of date software version. Adobe may have fixed your problem already. If it still occurs with the latest version (which is 7.0.8 by now), we can try to figure out what's wrong.
Khkremer,

Finally got them to upgrade Reader to 7.08 and now the online forms are usable. That is the answer. Thanks.
