Can i make my forums be http://forum.yourname.com instead of http://yourname.com/forum/??

hi,
Can i make my forums be http://forum.yourname.com instead of http://yourname.com/forum/??

I am currently hosting my site at my house privately on a Windows 2003 Server EE pc with a 512kbps/128kbps ADSL Broadband Internet Connection.
I also am using DynDNS' Dynamic DNS service, with a hostname of share4free.ath.cx.
Any ideas??

Thanks in Advance,
Andrew

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

For a free domain name:
No. Because it depends on the company
Unless: You find a company that allows an id on the left side. And then only if the name "forum" hasn't already been taken for the particular host name.

For your own domain name that you register:
Yes! With your own registered name (cost maybe $10 a year?), you can put anything on the left side, as far as I know.E.g. Yahoo has: mail.yahoo.com, edit.yahoo.com, maps.yahoo.com , etc.

aagh, ok, I learnt on a website (AFTER POSTING THIS THREAD) that if you have a folder called /namehere/ then if you go to http://namehere.yorudomain.com it takes you to http://yourdomain.com/namehere/ etc.

Is it possible to refund the points???
