Hi,

What is the latest Service Pack for Oracle 10g. Could someone please give me a brief description on it too thanks.

Hi Joel

I think by service pack you mean Patchsets. Need not read rest if not !!!

THere are bugs in Oracle softwre.When some of them are discovered Oracle will release  a "bundle of patch" called patchset. We need to apply this on top of the base realse to fix the issues.

FOr ex 10G release 1 (10.1) has got 10.1.0.5 as the latest patchset now.
for 10G release 2 10Gr2 oracle has comeout with 10.2.0.2 as the latest patchset.
You can download the patchset from metalink.oracle.com and install on top of the base release that you already would be having. Instllaing is simple.. need to just follow the instructions given in readme. (it is installed using same OUI).
Oracle always recommends its customers to be on latest patchset.
