i have pentium 2.6 mhz intel dual core system with two 80 gb sata hard disks with 1gb transcend ram.

i have loaded windows 2000 advanced server in the first hard disk.

also let me know whether i have do mirroring first and then load other softwares like sql server 2000 , antivirus etc

once into windows right click my computer - manage - disk management - find your two disks, right click on the empty on and click create mirror

how about installing other applications. these have to be installed before or after creating  the mirror

No, in fact if you are in a hurry build everything as it is then mirror it afterwards because it will trash the discs for a while and slow everything down while it creates the mirror, you could leave this overnight for instance.

Your disks will need to be Dynamic discs already or converted to them in the area Jay_Jay70 mentions above.

Always best to get a RAID card to do the work really though rather than relying on software mirroring.
