I am running Windows 2000 with Primary domain controller, some virus kill my windows and I don't have backup the system state before. I already clean the virus in safe mode. After that it cannot bootup in normal mode, only can work with safe mode. I want to reinstall the windows but it is because this server is PDC (hold all the master and roles), how can I backup the AD and recover. Please get me details information. Thanks a lot!

Do you have another working domain controller and dns server in the domain? Is this a single domain environment? If you have another domain controller and DNS server running then you can seize the operation master roles so that they are running on the other domain controller and then format and re-install the failed server and re-join the domain.
