EHD: Error message "parameter is incorrect"
I have an external hard drive (Maxtor). There are several partitions. All are working fine except one. The drive letter appears in "my computer", but when I try to access it, i get the message "parameter is incorrect". I'm running Windows XP with all the up-to-date patches, etc.
Is the next step a data recovery service? Do I try a reboot? Or, is there something I can do myself? Will chkdsk work on an EHD? What about third party software (partition table doctor or something else?)
Of course (as usual with these kinds of crises!) the data on THIS particular partition is more precious that the data on the partitions that are working correctly. :-(
Thanks for any suggestions and have a great day.
