Event ID 9542 and Event ID 9175 store and mapi issues

I am having trouble with and exchange 2000 sp3 server on a windows sbs 2000 sp5 server.

When I restart or start the information store service i get the following event:
Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      MSExchangeIS
Event Category:      General
Event ID:      9542
Date:            6/18/2006
Time:            5:01:26 PM
User:            N/A
Computer:      FNBB00
Description:
Initialization of external interface MAPIRPC failed; Error ecRpcListen.

After that every minute or so the following event happens:

Event Category:      MAPI Session
Event ID:      9175
Date:            6/18/2006
Time:            5:01:12 PM
User:            N/A
Computer:      FNBB00
Description:
The MAPI call 'OpenMsgStore' failed with the following error:
The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available.  Either there are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance.
The MAPI provider failed.

When I go into system manager and click on 'First Storage Group' a dialog with the following pops up:
The action could not be completed because the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is unavailable. Be sure the service is running and you have network connectivity to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.

I have removed the trend virus scanner from the exchange server and reapplied the service pack to exchange.  Any ideas?

Check if you have any patches mentioned in the above thred in installed on your exchange server.
