Hi all,

Anyone has any idea how I could transform the multimedia player I wrote using dspack, into a browser plugin to work with IE/opera/firefox? I can't seem to find any info on the net.

thanks

hm... as I see those tool bands are IE related. I don't see how I could use that info to emmbed a player into the browser and play whatever multimedia file is passed (how?) by the browser to my player.
basically what I want to accomplish is sopmething similar to say quicktimes media plugin that installs in all major browsers. I don't know if it's the same plugin. but I got the general impression that it is.
so as you can see, there are a lot of things I don't know about this issue, and firther more, couldn't find much on the net either.

I think that the browser search on browser homepage for needed pluggin and then download the plug-in  for specified browser. I don't think that you can write a plug-in that will work for all browsers. Need different versions for each major browser.

ok. so lets assume I need to write a different plugin for each browser. say opera, firefox and IE. will I need to get info from all 3 vendors on how to write a plugin or are these informations available?

I'm not qualified for Premium Service anymore so I can't search the EX-EX very well. If you are, please search for plug-ins. I remember that I offer the answer here some time ago. Maybe you can get the links or the filenames to can find it on my hard.

For netscape:

for IE I suggest a HBO+band object

i've dne a fast search but couldn't find anything relevant.

you can try google search like:
site:experts-exchange.com <key words>
in case you have some good keywords to search by. I might be missing the ritgh keyword as plugin is not getting much to me (and it gets mostly IE stuff)

hi, after some searching I found this:
http://delphi.mozdev.org/list.html
more exactly this:
http://bugzilla.mozdev.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8708

seems to be the right thing for the job. I won't keep this question open as I will most probably try to make this project using the above toolkit and maybe improve the toolkit while I'm at it :)

thanks for your input

sorry, should have been A. (the link you gave me also contains the toolkit from above). I'll post a request for the change
