Groupwise 6.5 sp5 user move to GW 7 in a cluster

We have a GW 6.5 Sp5 system with 800 users and we setup a new GW 7 system in a Cluster environment in the the same tree. We want to move the users from the GW 6.5 sys to the new GW7 system. What if anything do we need to do prior the user moves? PS - We have tested the new users in the GW 7 system and  they work OK. Is their some steps we should follow to make this move smooth as possible?

If it is....I'd suggest upgrading the back-end of the v6.5 system to v7, then making the existing v6.5 (now v7) a Secondary Domain (or Domains, depending on how many you have) in the clustered v7 system. Then I'd start moving users to the new POs.

The issue here is that while you CAN just take the databases and Graft the v6.5/v7 system's files into the clustered v7 environment, it's fairly messy and there are some issues with the results even if the Grafting goes smoothly (among other things, uses could end up with new FIDs, which would make access to existing Archives difficult).

I think it probably would have been better to upgrade and cluster (or cluster and upgrade) the exiting v6.5 system. Failing that, the best way to make a "smooth" transition is to make the current v6.5 system subordinate to the clustered v7 system. Unfortunately, the v6.5-to-v7 step is one of those rare occurrences in Novell's products where the older version can't run with the newer one. Generally, Novell leaves forcing customer forklifts to Redmond - Novell products are usually backwards-compatible and do fine integrating with older versions. GroupWise v7 is an exception - you can't run a v6.5 (or earlier) Agent in a GroupWise v7 environment.
