.png files not loading locally in any browser

This is a really strange problem, but basically I am in the middle of developing a site, and I am not seeing any of the .png images offline.

Online, everything works beautifully, and looks fine, however, regardless of how often I re-download all the images, javascript and css, and force refresh on the local site, neither IE or Firefox will display the images, acting as if they aren't there (with IE displaying the good ol' red cross).

If I change the filename and change the link in the pages, they display fine, it is only the exact location as it is online that is the problem.

I've looked in IIS and I can't see anything obvious, and I am at a loose end as to what the problem is.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

Check the security permissions of the file. Try going to the file within your browser. If it returns an HTTP 401.3 error, then you need to have a problem with permissions.

To fix it, simply change the permissions of the file to be in-line with the rest of the files used in the website, as the IUSR_{computer} account won't have sufficient access.

I will award the points, but out of interest, do you have any idea why this would have happened, and only with a small number of images?
