DHCP SERVICE ON BACKUP DOMAIN CONTROLLER FAIL TO START

HELLO EXPERT,

I have two windows nt server on my network.
configure as pdc and bdc resp.
I took the bdc offline, disconnect from the network to enable the configuration of
the dhcp scope and global options.
when i tried to start the dhcp sevice on the bdc( offline) the dchp service failed
to start , checking the event veiwer the following message recorded.

THE DHCP SERVER FAILED TO INITIALIZE IT REGISTRY DATA.
EVENT ID 1003.
help please

If the machine is completely disconnected, connect it to an active networking component (an otherwise disconnected hub/switch), so that the TCP/IP stack can start.

Assuming you just installed the DHCP service as a backup solution, did you reapply SP6a (and any subsequent hotfixes you might have had installed) afterwards?
Otherwise, try to uninstall the DHCP service, reboot, and reinstall (SP6a!) again; assuming again that you need this is a backup solution to be activcated in case the primary is down, check this article on how to copy the DHCP database to the BDC to make your life easier:

If it still doesn't work, please post the *verbatim* and complete message in the event log.

i uninstall and reinstall dhcp reapply service pack6
and my dhcp server is good to go
