asked on

select into same table syntax

Hi,
I'm wondering if there is a way to select rows that match a criteria and copy back into the same table.
All copied data would be the same as the original except for 2 columns which would then be specified.
thanks

I don't even know what I'm talking about.
Got confused asking this question ...
What I was doing was selecting from table a certain criteria -
then I did an insert query using data from first query going row by row -
knew this seemed inefficient ..
I'm on my first cup of coffee - rough night ...
As soon as I read your response I said "Idiot!"
I just need to insert and select using the criteria from the first query - eliminating the first query altogether.
easy as cake
thanks for pointing this out and I won't post again until I'm on second cup (of coffee)
